Art of the Game

On view April 11th through May 19th, 2024

Submissions Due: March 20, 2024 at 11:59pm CST.

The North Suburban Center for the Arts (NSCA) is excited to accept submissions for our next exhibition, Art of the Game! This wide ranging exhibition celebrates the world of games in all their forms, spanning competitive sports, video games, board games, strategy games, recreational sports, and more. All forms of artistic mediums are encouraged!

At their core, games bring us together. This exhibition will consider the impact of games on our society and explore the cultural significance they hold through an artistic lens. We invite you to capture this essence of community, while highlighting the strategy, emotions, and energy that games encompass.

For example, you might:

  • Explore the world of sports! Dabble in the themes of athleticism, camaraderie, adventure, and fandom that sports offer.
  • Dive into the virtual world of gaming! Showcase the artistry of video game design, from captivating characters and their journeys to immersive environments they explore.
  • Highlight the world of board games! Consider the aesthetics, strategy, and the social experiences that board games provide.
  • Design something entirely new! Let your imagination run wild with concepts, sketches, or prototypes for a new game.
  • Embrace the aesthetics of sports and gaming! We're talking varsity letters, checkerboards, tracksuits, and more.

Note: Notifications will be sent on March 26th. Artwork drop off will be held April 4th-6th by appointment.

Submissions

Artists may submit up to three artworks for consideration.

All mediums and subjects will be considered, however art equal or less than 4x4 ft will be considered first due to our limited gallery space. Additionally, due to limited electrical access, plug-in artworks may not be accepted due to facility limitations.

Fees: $25 to submit one artwork, with additional entries (up to two) for $5 each

Submission fees help the art center offset costs associated with the exhibition and directly fund the ArtCall platform, administrative processing, exhibition, and promotional materials.

The NSCA offers a number of fee waivers for every exhibition. If the application fee poses a financial barrier for you at this time in your artistic career, please use the following codes: "GAME50" to receive 50% off your submission fee or "GAME100" to waive the fee completely.

Member Discounts

There are also discounted rates for members: 1 artwork ($17.50), 2 artworks ($21), 3 artworks ($24.50). To learn more about becoming a member, visit northsuburbanarts.org/members
